One thing I’ve discovered after testing out diapers is that you might discover the perfect pocket, but you are not crazy about the size, price, absorbency, or style of the insert. You might also like using prefolds or fitteds, but need an extra layer of absorbency. You could also be like our family and need a more absorbent night-time solution that doesn’t compromise the fit of a diaper or require you to purchase special “overnight” diapers.
When I came across the Doopsy line of inserts, their unique style intrigued me. This insert claims to be affordable, slim, super absorbent, and a universal fit for all diaper styles and brands. Doopsy is recommended as a great way to breathe new life into old diapers and for use with new diapers. At a retail price of $11.95, I wondered if the Doopsy could be an economy solution to creating a more absorbent stash.
The Super Doopsy insert is different from other inserts and liners I have tried because it is essentially a long insert made of PUL fabric on one side and 4 layers of Bamboo terry (very soft) on the other. If you want additional absorbency, the Super Doopsy has a pocket for a removable Extra Absorbency pad made out of 2 layers of Bamboo hemp terry (other fabrics coming in the future). You can leave the insert in the pocket for washing because it agitates out in the wash by itself. The inserts come in cool array of solid color options, as well three fun animal prints. I received the zebra and liked the whimsy of having an added design, which actually looked cute as the print peek-a-booed out of a solid color diaper.
I was impressed by the slim design of this pocket, but honestly still had my doubts about the bulk it might create in my favorite diaper brands. After pre-washing the Super Doopsy, I decided to test it in an Apple Cheeks Diaper. I love the design and fit of this diaper, but I’m not crazy about the cost or night-time absorbency of the inserts. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the Doopsy fit very well into my Apple Cheeks size 2 diaper, even with the Extra Absorbency Pad, for day and did not compromise the fit. This held true when I added the Super Doopsy with the traditional pad for night-time. My heavy wetter stayed dry in a diaper I could not previously use at night!
I tested the claim that the Doopsy works universally and found that it had a compatible fit with the Bum Genius 3.0 and Smartipants during the day. I liked the fit of the insert less with my fitted diapers, but this is most likely because I primarily use Nifty Nappy fitteds, which come with their own slim absorbency insert. Ultimately, the Nifty Nappy insert is slimmer fitting than the Doopsy, so I preferred it for that style of diaper.
I think the Super Doopsy is an ideal solution for parents looking to buy an economy package of diapers, such as Bum Genius or Smartipants, that might not have the needed absorbency as a baby’s needs change. IT could also work for the individual who has a broad range of diaper styles or brands and is looking for a universal insert to use with existing diapers, rather than purchasing new night-time diapers. Rather than piling on the inserts or buying night-time diapers that often cost in the $25 to $30 range, someone could purchase 2 to 3 Super Doopsy inserts, wash every other day, and be covered for the night.

My fav product is the SD diapers in giggly orange.
Can you believe – I still haven’t gotten to try ANY cloth diapers? The big order I placed on ebay was a slacker seller who never shipped – I just got back my $ through Ebay’s buyer protection program, but I guess I’m back at square one 🙁

I like the leopard print. Simply because my 3 yr old is into Diego and obsessed w/ baby jaguar 🙂

I would use the super doopsy in one of our pocket diapers, probably fuzzibunz or snapez. We are starting to have problems at night again and I am needing a good solution.

I would love to try the Super Doopsy insert. I also saw coming soon is an organic cotton insert I would be interested in trying. I love their color names and selection (especially, Eco Green and Giggly Orange), but I am anti- microfiber (isn’t washing well in my front loader).

I would definitely try every combination I could come up with to find my favorite use for the Super Doopsy and my heavy wetter! I would start with adding it to a daytime only diaper. Those can always use more absorbency! :o)
